Can criminals fly?
Police say "crime doesn’t pay" because people who break the law will face consequences. In this story, a "suspect" wanted for murder tried to hide but was caught in a surprising way. A suspect is someone who you imagine to be guilty with a little evidence or no proof at all.
The suspect, Deario Wilkerson, was hiding in Memphis Tennessee. Police were looking for him for months after a warrant was issued for his arrest. A "warrant" is a legal document allowing police to arrest someone.
When police searched his house, Wilkerson tried to hide in the "attic." The attic is a room or a space immediately below the roof of a building. However, he fell through the ceiling and was arrested. He was not hurt in the fall. The police arrested him without problems.
The crime happened in April. A man was shot and killed on the street. A woman nearby was also hurt but survived. Police said Wilkerson and two other people were “involved” in the shooting. If you are involved in something then it’s like you had a part in something you are included in something.
Security video helped police find the suspects. The video shows a fight starting before the shooting. Wilkerson and the others ran away after the crime, but all three were arrested later. This story shows that "crime doesn’t pay." People who break the law will always be caught. It is better to stay honest and follow the rules.
